A conversation with Lucero’s new Operations Manager, Einar Serracin

Einar Serracin has recently joined the team at Lucero as the new Operations Manager. We sat down for a conversation with him to learn more about his background and his vision for Lucero.

Where are you from?

I was born in Chiriquí, Panama, in a small but wonderful town called Volcan. It is the highest point of the country where you can find the purest air, and where men and women work the land with their bare hands.

How did you become involved in the hospitality industry?

Seventeen years ago, I started working in Panama’s first all-inclusive resort. The manager hired me to improve customer service and staff morale. Days became years and here I am.

Where did you study?

I studied Business Administration majoring in finance and accounting in Chiriquí. I also studied English and computer sciences. In addition, I took a few programs in leadership, coaching and team development.

Tell us more about yourself. What brings you joy?

Talking about oneself is not easy, however I would like to share a few things.

I enjoy music, art and writing. My mother is my hero – thanks to her I am here. Working in the hospitality industry all these years makes me miss her home cooking.

Seven years ago, I started rescuing abandoned dogs. I take care of them, make them healthy and find them new homes. These dogs have become my second family.

I love to teach. My motto is “If you don´t know, I can teach you. If you can’t, I can help you. But if you don´t want to, please give the opportunity to someone else.”

What attracted you to Lucero?

A year ago, a friend introduced me to Mr. Sandeep (Lal), who told me about Lucero. From its name, I found it interesting. Mr. Sandeep and I had a few more meetings and dinners. I had always thought about returning home to do something important. In addition, I noticed that Mr. Sandeep is so passionate about Panama and Lucero, that he transmits it so easily. I decided to follow my heart and I chose the light of Lucero. Lucero is the type of place where I would love to live, and I truly believe it is a project with incredible potential.

Nowadays, every entrepreneur or professional wants a higher standard of living, pleasant weather all year long, the most spectacular landscape, and a garden that can provide healthy food. Lucero was created to provide the best quality of life where people can enjoy all the amenities we provide for them as well as a perfect setting for events, weddings and corporate meetings.

What lesson did you learn in your career that you find useful in day-to-day life?

Humility has always been a great friend of mine; remembering always where we come from, no matter how high we reach. Everything that happens to us is thanks to all the people who have crossed our path and have helped us determine who we are today.

What do you think makes a good manager?

Lead by example. Use the word “we” instead of “I”. It´s a combination of knowledge, experience, respect and honesty. Be a dreamer. Every step you take shows how good a leader or manager one can be.

Do you have any funny stories that you want to share?

This has always been a funny thing for me: even though I studied finance and I thought my future was working with numbers, once I experienced the hospitality world I knew it was for me and every day I am more convinced.

Qué te atrajo a Lucero?

What Does Your Dream Home Look (and Sound) Like?

The hardest choice you’ll have to make at Lucero is the sound you fall asleep to from your custom home. The rushing Agua Blanca River from the Riverside Duplexes? Or the calls of quetzals and toucans settling down for the night? Lucero is built on a stunning and expansive golf course tucked into the lush Boquete hills 3,366 feet (1,010 meters) above sea level and has as many choices of home designs as there are views.

Lucero Homes & Golf Master Plan

Living the dream has diverse meanings at Lucero: a turnkey Jazmin condominium, a gleaming contemporary villa like the Ave de Paraiso or being as close as possible to the 1st hole in a stylish Fairway Duplexes. But there is one thing every home has in common — craftsmanship. From granite counter tops to ceramic floors and hardwood doors, the finishing touches look and feel amazing. And if your vision includes your very own design, you can create a completely custom home using your own architect and builders. There’s no such things as a limit to your dreams at Lucero.
