Treehouse Luxury in Panama

The world’s most romantic hotel

Imagine waking up feeling like you’re floating in the sky with birds singing in their nests next to you and tree limbs arching over your bed. This is the experience of sleeping in our extraordinary treehouses at Lucero. Built 18 feet above the ground in the spreading branches of our magnificent cloud forest trees, they are a childhood fantasy come to life.

View from the sky

The view from your bedroom in the sky

A natural high

A wooden suspension bridge acts as the rustic entryway to your luxurious space in the sky. To complete the fantasy the rooms are outfitted with a rain-shower, fridge, coffee maker, Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV, as well as a plush bed — so you need never leave your airy perch. The 360 degree views are truly birds-eye and overlook the fairways, the Caldera valley and stretch out as far as the Pacific Ocean. From the living room you can hear the soothing sounds of the Agua Blanca river.

Our preferred cocktail for perfect happiness? Something tropical made with Ron Abuelo Centuria 30-year-old rum (also named best new bourbon by Forbes) and fresh local fruit. Perfect to watch the sun go down from the balcony and see the parrots winging home. All sound a bit exhausting? Don’t worry, you’re steps from your inviting bed and down duvet.

Nestled in this perfect perch you can spot some of the world’s most astonishing wildlife from Harpy eagles to toucans, white-faced capuchin monkeys and golden sloths.

Stay & Play, (oh and relax too)

We teamed up with The Haven Hotel & Spa to give you the best of both worlds – golf and pampering. Spend a wonderful day playing on Lucero’s spectacular and challenging golf course beneath Panama’s highest mountain, Volcan Baru.

Mountain Views

Then retreat to Haven’s spa and soothe sore muscles with a massage and soak in the whirlpool.

Haven Pool

Head to the lounge for a sundowner or read and relax in your room overlooking Haven’s manicured gardens and your personal fountain. There’s just one catch, you’ll have to wake up and do it all again the next day.

Come and Play a (Virtual) Round of Golf

We can talk about how challenging and beautiful the Lucero course is or we can simply show you. Take a photographic tour through some of our favorite holes – it’s almost like being there. Well not really, but it’s better than sitting and staring at your inbox.

The River View hole 3 – par 3

At hole 3 it’s hard not to be distracted by the amazing view onto Caldera spreading across the beautiful valley basin below. The tropical landscaping and soon to come luxury tree houses will have you perched setting up your drive for even longer.

Careful of that curve

Getting High hole 14 – par 4

Thanks to having the highest elevation in Central America there’s nothing between you and the heavens when you play at Lucero, except perhaps your lob shot.

Nature Lover hole 15 – par 4

Walk on the wild side: We wanted to create a golfing experience that was in harmony with the natural environment so don’t be surprised to find jungly green corridors dotted around the course, they act as mini wildlife preserves.

Golf for Good: The Bid4Boquete Tournament Debuts at Lucero

The sun was shining, the bird(ie)s were singing and $6,600 was raised for local charities at the first annual Bid4Boquete Tee Off 2015 Charity Golf Tournament at Lucero. No one managed to make the $50,000 Hole in One, but there’s always next year. The fun’s not over this weekend: there’s a silent auction, bake sale and loads of activities for kids. See you there? http://bit.ly/1FqAFm7

Hole 3 brought the drama –

$50,000 (!) up for grabs for a hole-in-one.

Best Spa in Panama’s Highlands

It’s not only Bridget Jones who loves a mini-break – we do too. And taking a few days away at the Haven Spa is the perfect way to press the reset button. Here are our top indulgences:

1. Pilates in Paradise. In the Yoga Centre overlooking the bamboo garden and bocce ball court – it doesn’t get any more zen than doing your hundreds while fresh breezes flow over you and tropical birds sing.

2. Therapy you want. Talking about ourselves to someone who listens: The team of whizz therapists at Haven are ready to tackle any problem whether it’s rejuvenating your skin or realigning your chakras. There are naturopaths, acupuncturists, chiropractors and massage therapists at the ready – trained and skilled to get your body, and mind, back in shape.

Haven Spa + Health Clinic

3. The 4-day juice cleanse. It’s so much easier to detox away from home – allow yourself to be pampered while you let your body enjoy a break from caffeine, fatty foods and pollution with delicious and nutritious fresh squeezed juices.

Gourmet Dining out in Boquete

Five things not to miss at The Rock (our fave dining spot – and not just for the stellar service and attention):

1. The Trout with Pancetta and Serrano Ham. Raised in the spring-fed and rock-filtered streams of the Chiriqui highlands, the fish is as fresh as if you’d thrown a line out from your table next to the Caldera river and caught it yourself.

Trout estilo Navarro

2. Pork Ribs with Sugarcane and Papaya Sauce. We’ve developed a weakness for the Rock’s falling off the bone pork ribs with sugarcane and papaya sauce. (And if you find yourself craving more like us, Thursday nights are all you-can-eat rib nights.) Our tip? Wash them down with a refreshing, dark craft beer from the Boquete Brewing Company. They brew with water from a private spring high up in Chiriqui’s cloud forest.

3. The View . . . because that’s what we’re all about and this one comes with a rushing river, gleaming jungle mountains and a charming atmosphere.

View from The Rock

4. Local. Almost everything you eat at the Rock comes from the hills and farms surrounding Boquete. Because this is Panama’s ‘legume basket’. Ok, that’s not so catchy but it’s true.

5. Happy hour. Because two-for-one as the sun goes down over the cloud forest is as good as it gets.

Living in Boquete, Panama, certainly has its perks

We’re giving you a peek into what it’s like to live in one of the world’s most beautiful places, Boquete, Panama. From the everyday to the inspired day, where to go and how to play our beautiful championship course, Lucero Living is our way of sharing (and occasionally showing off) this vibrant Central American hotspot.
